Help to prepare for a headshot shoot

Preparing for your headshots is essential to ensure that you look and feel your best during the shoot. Here are some tips to help you prepare:

  1. Choose your outfits carefully: Select a few outfits that you feel comfortable and confident in. Solid colors work well, and avoid busy patterns that can distract from your face. Also, avoid clothing with logos or branding.

  2. Get plenty of rest: Ensure that you get enough sleep the night before your headshot session to avoid looking tired or puffy.

  3. Drink plenty of water: Hydration is essential for healthy-looking skin. Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your session.

  4. Avoid alcohol and salty foods: Alcohol and salty foods can cause water retention and make you look puffy.

  5. Get a haircut and grooming: If you plan to get a haircut, do it at least a week before the shoot. Also, ensure that you are well-groomed, including trimming facial hair if applicable.

  6. Practice your expressions: Practice different facial expressions in front of a mirror to see what works best for you. Think about what message you want to convey in your headshot and practice those expressions.

  7. Communicate with your photographer: Talk to your photographer beforehand and discuss your goals for the session, including the style and tone you want to convey. Ask any questions you may have, and be open to their suggestions and guidance.

By following these tips, you can ensure that you are prepared and ready to shine in your headshots. If you have any questions about your shoot, feel free to Contact Benjamin McDonnell.
